Jesus Is Good News!

Everything about Jesus is Good News. His identity as the eternal beloved Son of the Father. His salvation won through his death and resurrection. His Spirit-filled teaching for every part of life. Jesus is Good News and every page of the Bible reveals his goodness.

Daily Bible Reflections

The main purpose of this website is to share the “Jesus is Good News” Bible reflections. These are written to help Christians engage with the Old Testament as a revelation of Jesus Christ, his salvation and his purposes.

The reflections can be used “as is” but were written originally to accompany the Weekday Lectionary from the Church of England. This Lectionary gives an Old Testament reading and New Testament reading for Morning Prayer, and again for Evening Prayer. Readings for Morning Prayer in one year become the readings for Evening Prayer the next year (ish), and it follows a 2-year and 4-year pattern. These Reflections assume you are using the readings for Morning Prayer. Usually both New Testament and Old Testament readings are referenced, but the focus is on the Old Testament - apart from five weeks when they focus on the Book of Revelation.

About Me

I am a Church of England Vicar at St George’s Church in Shrewsbury. I’m married to Caroline and have a daughter, Hannah, at University. I’m a Vicar because I came to realise that churches are full of people who do not appreciate the depth, beauty, wisdom and wonder of the Bible, and therefore have a truncated vision of Jesus Christ. My passion is to open up the Bibles and let the sword of the Spirit change people as they encounter the living Lord Jesus.
